The Jagannath Rath Yatra, dedicated to Lord Jagannath, is a very important Hindu festival celebrated every year at the Jagannath temple in Puri. This Rath Yatra is celebrated with great zeal in Puri, Orissa. Ratha Yatra is a massive Hindu celebration held every year at the famed Jagannatha temple in Puri, Odisha, India. Ratha Yatra is held on Dwitiya Tithi during Shukla Paksha of Ashada month, according to the Hindu lunar calendar. In Puri, Lord Jagannatha is worshipped at the famed Jagannatha temple. Vaishnavism worships Lord Jagannatha as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu Sanskrit for "Lord of the Universe" is Jagannatha. According to Hindu Sashtra, There are 4 dams or Hindu pilgrimage sire, the Jagannatha Temple is one of them, and it is believed that all Hindus should visit these 4 dhams at least once in their lives. Deities include Lord Jagannatha, his brother Balabhadra, and his sister Devi Subhadra. Ratha Yatra commemorates Lord Jagannatha's annual visit to Gundicha Mata temple along with his brother and sister. Dwitiya Tithi Begins - 11:25 AM on Jun 19, 2023 Dwitiya Tithi Ends - 01:07 PM on Jun 20, 2023 Rituals During Rath Yatra Pahandi: The deities are moved from the Jagannath shrine to the Chariot for their journey to the Gundicha shrine during this event. Gundicha is considered a true devotee of Lord Krishna, and all three deities give her visits to honor her devotion to Lord Krishna. The idol of Balabhadra is brought out first, then the idol of Subhadra, and finally the idol of Jagannath. Chhera Pahara: On the first day of the tour, it is one of the most essential rites. Everyone is equal in the sight of the deities, according to this ceremony. To perform this ceremony, the Gajapati King dons a sweeper's outfit and cleans the area around the deities and chariots using a gold-handled broom and sandalwood water with great devotion. This rite is performed twice a year, once when the deities are taken to Gundicha temple and once when they return to Jagannath temple. The three goddesses are ceremonially cleansed and dressed in boirani fabric when they arrive at the Gundicha shrine. The fourth day is known as Hera Panchami, and it honors Goddess Lakshmi's arrival in search of Lord Jagannath. The Jagannath temple is a famous Hindu pilgrimage site with significant religious significance. Devotees are permitted to see the deities during the Puri Ratha Yatra. The Rath Yatra in Puri draws tourists and pilgrims from all over the world. Foreign visitors refer to this Rath Yatra as the Puri Car Festival. If a person truly commits to the Rath Yatra, it is believed that he or she will be emancipated from the cycle of birth and death. The sheer sight of Lord Jagannath on his chariot is considered very auspicious, and these chariots are designed each year from a specific kind of wood as per religious beliefs. The deity idols are made of wood as well and are replaced every 12 years. The Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra is a symbol of equality because it is free of all forms of discrimination.
